President Hi everyone! As your JCR President, I'm the first port of call for all college affairs. I meet regularly with the college heads of department and governing body, acting as a liaison between students and staff. I also lead the committee and work with the officers to ensure college events are running smoothly. If you have any problems or recommendations for the JCR, don't hesitate to get in touch!
Treasurer Dominic Kane Executive Officer
Treasurer As treasurer, I ensure the financial responsibility of the JCR committee, including transparency and accountability. I’m also responsible for reimbursement, ensuring that officers have access to the funds they need, and working with the Bar Manager to make sure our student-run bar is solvent. Finally, I liaise with the college Bursary and with the MCR on financial matters.
Bar Manager Johan Sjöberg Executive Officer
Bar Manager At Harris Manchester, we have one of the university’s few student-run college bars, translating to some of the lowest bar prices in Oxford. As bar manager it’s my duty to keep our fridges well stocked and our clients well served. If you have any suggestions for further improvements to the bar, or if you’d like to bartend in exchange for lucrative bar credits, please contact me.
EDGE Officer Ben Tan Liberation Officer
EDGE Officer As EDGE (Ethnic Diversity Group for Equality) Officer, I support students at HMC who identify as ethnic minorities, and ensure that our college socials are diverse and inclusive. Most importantly, I’m here to listen to your concerns or complaints regarding race and ethnicity in college – and try to resolve them. I also represent EDGE students here on a college and university level.
Women's Officer My name is Lulu and I will be your Women's Officer for 2017! I will be here to support, advise and represent those at HMC who identify as female and / or with the struggles women face. I help provide the women's sanitary boxes and work closely with the MCR Women's Officer, WomCam and OUSU to organise events and services that empower our fantastic and fierce females.
Academic Affairs & Access Officer Catrin Jinchin
Academic Affairs & Access Officer In my role, I work to ensure that everyone has a smooth and rewarding academic experience here at HMC. I can help to resolve disputes with your tutors and direct you to assistance, but am also here if you ever feel overwhelmed (as we all do!) by the demands of academic work. Additionally, I'm responsible for the college peer supportprogramme.
Food & Beverage Officer Renbin Woo
Food & Beverages Officer As Food & Beverages Officer, I tend to the gastronomic rights of the student body - from wine to tea, confit to coffee, I'm here to ensure that food and drinks are much more than subsistence; perhaps merriment! Please get in touch if you have any suggestions.
IT Officer Walter Myer
IT Officer Having problems with Eduroam? Need to link up to the photocopier? You've come to the wrong place, these are not my responsibilities! For technical problems like these, you can talk to the college IT manager Jonathan Boucard. I am, however, responsible for the college JCR website (any suggestions?) and for conducting online voting.
Sports Officer Jakob Vikner
Sports Officer As Sports Officer I'll be organising sports activities around college, as well as being responsible for getting and maintaining the sports equipment we need. If you have any new ideas for activities in the future, I'll be happy to hear them!
Secretary (VP) Aleksandra Katolik Executive Officer
Secretary (VP) In my role, I work with the president and the executive body to organise committee business. This involves keeping a record of committee meetings, and ensuring that JCR administration is in accordance with our constitution. I also liaise with the wider student body by accepting valid motions for consideration by the JCR, and communicating college notices on a weekly basis.
Social Secretaries James Crawshaw & Wai Chong Mak Executive Officers
Social Secretaries Here at HMC, we place great emphasis on balancing work and play. It is our responsibility as social secretaries to ensure that our students are given opportunities to take time off their studies – from BOPs to guest nights to theatre visits – and have an amazing time in the company of friends and family! We'll also be taking the lead on the college ball event, held in Trinity Term.
Disabilities Officer As disabilities officer, I’m available for disabled students to contact with concerns or queries, and will be working with other liberation officers to make social events as inclusive and accessible as possible. I’ll also be a point of contact for the Oxford Students’ Disability Community (OSDC). I’ll work on campaigns addressing accessibility issues both within college and university-wide.
LGBTQ+ Officer Chris McCann Liberation Officer
LGBTQ+ Officer In my role I act as a conduit between the JCR and the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer) community in Oxford. I provide a voice for all identities - whether within college or at the university level. I also organise events to bring the college together and to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues. If you have questions or want an informal chat, my door is always open. Allies are welcome!
Welfare Officers Promit Anwar Caitlin Coulson
Welfare Officers From organising welfare teas and walks to providing yoga classes and mindfulness sessions, our role as Welfare Officers is to help make your experience here as stress-free as possible! We also provide support with mental and sexual health, and along with the college peer supporters, we're a confidential first port of call if you are experiencing any personal / academic difficulties.
Charities & Environment Officer Annie Grégoire
Charities & Environment Officer As C&E Officer, I work to improve the college's carbon footprint, and boost student awareness of environmental issues. I am also responsible for arranging the democratic selection of college charities, for keeping students informed about the charities we represent, and for several fun and fantastic fundraising events over the year.
Freshers Officer Natasha Salonen
Freshers Officer My role is to help freshers prepare for arrival in Oxford and to host freshers' events during 0th Week! From surprise goodies, to welcome dinners, a pub crawl or two, and so much more, I will ensure you have a great start to the year and quickly feel a part of the Harris Manchester family!
OUSU Officer Florian Mittenhuber
OUSU Officer As OUSU (Oxford University Student Union) Officer, I mediate between the interests of our college and the wider student body. This involves attending OUSU Council meetings to vote on behalf of the JCR and generally represent its views. I also publicise elections, events and campaigns promoted by OUSU to the JCR President and students of the college.
